How to: Install Wine on Mac OS X. Mac OS X could be the best operating system ever but there's still one thing that it lacks: you can neither run any essential Windows apps, nor even install Wine to make it possible. Here we'll try to make the things clearer and help. The official project website at WineHQ now provides official builds of Wine for Mac OS X. However, those aren’t necessarily the best option. These Wine binaries allow you to run Windows software, but don’t provide any helpful graphical tools for installing and setting up common applications.

The build and update scripts fetch the current MTGA application version prior to downloading and installing, ensuring the application is up to date.

Quick Start

For the fastest start, after confirming that XCode Command Line Tools is installed, you can run Install.command right from Finder. This will install prerequisites and create the application bundle all in one step.

Check to see if you have XCode Command Line Tools installed by running xcode-select -p in the terminal. If it is installed, you'll be presented with the tools path. If it is not installed, run xcode-select --install in the terminal.

A script has been supplied to install Homebrew, xquartz, cabextract, zenity, winetricks, and wine in one shot. This script is very naive and may not be ideal in all circumstances. If you have any concerns, please open the script and execute the commands manually.

Build and wrap

Run the build script to create the Wine bottle, install the remaining dependencies and MTG Arena, and make a Mac application wrapper.

Enjoy

If all has gone well, Finder will open to reveal the newly created application bundle of 'out/MTGA.app'. You may move this to your Applications directory and run it as you would any other application.

Updating

Locate the MTGA application created in the previous step (probably /Applications), right click on the app icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. Open the 'bin' directory and double click on 'Update.command'. This will launch an update script in a terminal window that downloads and installs the latest version. Once complete, close the terminal window and run the MTGA application as normal.

Troubleshooting

The scripts are all fairly simple and do not provide much in the way of fault tolerance. If something doesn't seem to be working during the build, you may try to remove &> /dev/null Teamviewer 6- 9 mac torrent. from the wine commands to watch the output for obvious issues.
